SUMMARY:Putting Caregivers First: From Bench to Practice
DESCRIPTION:On behalf of the Committee on Science and Practice\, we are excited to share that The Education Committee of the Caregiver Wellbeing SIG will host an SPP sponsored webinar titled “Putting Caregivers First: From Bench to Practice”. \nThis webinar will present exciting caregiver wellbeing research and provide practical guidance for translating caregiver wellbeing science into practice. Our research presentations by Dr. Randi Streisand and Dr. Bob Ammerman will highlight their recent work in developing and testing innovative caregiver interventions in pediatric settings\, while Dr. Naomi Joffe and Dr. Lauren Szulczewski will guide us through the implementation of their Caregiver Mental Health Program and integration of evidence-based caregiver interventions into routine clinical practice. Finally\, Blyth Lord\, Founder and Executive Director of the Courageous Parents Network\, will share her experience and expertise in supporting caregivers through community engagement and advocating for evidence-based caregiver practices. \nWebinar structure will be a 10-minute introduction to caregiver wellbeing\, followed by four 20-minute presentations\, wrap-ups\, and time for Q&A. \nContinuing Education: 2.0 CEs \nTwo free CE credits are available to SPP psychologists who attend the full webinar. The Society of Pediatric Psychology (Division 54 of the American Psychological Association) is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Society of Pediatric Psychology maintains responsibility for this program and its contents. \n  \nAt the end of the webinar\, participants will be able to: \n\nDescribe the theoretical foundation and key clinical elements of a clinical program to identify and treat maternal depression in the pediatric setting.\nSummarize parent depressive symptoms in the year following their young child’s diagnosis of type 1 diabetes.\nDescribe ethical\, regulatory\, and logistical considerations of establishing a program to serve caregiver mental health needs in a pediatric hem/onc setting.
